Strive Dev will resume once we are comfortable with our Roblox status. We have not given up on Strive by any means. We are simply making the smartest move we can, which is to focus on Roblox right now. Have no fear, we will return to Strive.

The Launcher

You know how a lot of games have a launcher? Minecraft has one, MMOs have them, and the entire Steam service is basically one big launcher. The launcher allows you to update or log in to a game before you load up the entire thing, saving you precious time. We decided that Strive deserved a proper launcher.

That's what my most recent big project has been: designing and implementing a launcher that can detect new updates and automatically install them, so that you won't have to go back and forth downloading the game over and over for every time we add something. Here's what it looks like, so far:

Not only is it pretty, but it's functional! The launcher can tell you what version you're currently running, and then download the latest update for you if the version is different.

The launcher is going to change a lot before we begin open alpha testing and you can get your hands on it. Rotating background images, a feed with recent blog posts, and more are planned to be added. One of the most important features of the launcher will be the login. In the not-so-distant future, we hope to implement user accounts into Strive. Each copy of the game will be linked directly to one of these accounts for security reasons. Basically, the launcher will be your one-stop resource for everything Strive.

Over the next few days, we'll be distributing the game launcher to our closed alpha testers (some good buddies of ours) in order to simplify our process of bug testing, as well as to get feedback on and testing of the launcher, itself.

That's it for this special post. Feel free to leave feedback and suggestions for the launcher in the comment section, below!

    2. If they will budget $4000+ for Unity Pro, then I'm sure they will pay a measly 100 bucks.

  7. I know you guys said that it would change, but I have some concerns. How are we going to save our progress? And do we have to have a username/login info to load that save?

    4. Strive is a realistic, 3D, first-person, single-player wilderness survival game that takes place in a tropical setting. The game is currently under independent development by Gus "Gusmanak" Dubetz, and Ethan "ZolarKeth" Witt in the Unity engine.

      >single-player

      Stop fucking asking.

  9. Couple things, for the Launcher you guys should have it say when update is out and when a new update comes out have it tell you, you should update. (Like how Minecraft works)(I am not going to want to check for updates every time I get on, I am going to want to know if there is a update now.). Also With multiplayer, that everyone wants have, you could have it where you sign in, to a profile, and you can have it invite only. So only some people can join a word. Also if you have it where you can sign in, it will show a message(Similar to Roblox) so you can message players. Also have a spot where you look people up, search bar.

    1. What I mean is having it say what version you are using on the page so you don't have to click anything.

  14. What they should do is Make it with animals and real life character maker with No Infected but something Evil... Like The LOST Monsters? Or birds or even a Crazy Easter Egg of Slender man? How about one of the most horrifying characters from Movies, Games, T.V Shows and something like Nature would give you when you are all alone in the Forest... House... Apartment... Cabin... And lots more it would be the most Terrifying 5 Star Unity game of the year? That would be so cool! You could actually be on big time Companies!

    1. You realize that they can't put copyrighted characters in a monetized game? And that they wouldn't because these are the most retarded ideas ever?
